ADDENDUM TO MY RAVE/EAGLES CLUB REVIEW

Several reviewers have mentioned poor sound quality. I am 60 years old and learned long ago to use common foam earplugs at rock concerts. They filter out the tinny treble and fuzzy bass common among many venues. Given how incredibly loud most concerts are now, you will not miss any lyrics, nuance, or power. Plus, no irritating tinnitus, which used to last for weeks when I was young. Don't be embarrassed to use them, your hearing is too precious, and frankly, you will enjoy the concert more.

ENERGETIC AND ENTERTAINING

Dec 1, 2018 at The Rave/Eagles Club Ballroom in Milwaukee. I hadn't seen DCFC in concert before and was familiar with only some of their songs, but immersed myself in their library for the last month in anticipation of this concert. The show was well-paced, and the band was tight. Ben Gibbard is energetic and sincere in concert; a refreshing change from the often fake, forced, performance typical of many rock band frontmen. The 6 songs from the new album were received warmly, if not too enthusiastically. The classic stuff caused much of the crowd to sing along, & by the end of the show Ben & audience were relating to each other quite emotionally & intimately. ONLY reason I can't give the concert 5 stars is because I thought they should have played longer. I understand leaving 'em wanting more, but with DCFC's extensive catalog, they could have played 2 or 3 more songs and still left a dozen classics on the cutting room floor. I think Ben & Co. had more left in the tank. I know I did!

SATISFYING

I saw Death Cab at the Bowl in 2015 and loved the show. Last night, two things struck me about the performance. First, the instrumental sections were lively, creative and at times, long. DCFC is a band on a mission to redefine themselves, but would be better served revisiting some of the musicality that took them here. Secondly, I am in love with Ben Gibbard's voice. It is, for the most part, silky smooth with great diction (you can understand the words.) At 65, I can safely say that I have heard many bands and DCFC is still in the top ten.

DISTORTED, TINNY & TOO LOUD

Great lyrics, incredible talent & sounds & simply lousy sound quality I know the ballroom is capable of much more I can only hope it s the venue and not the band

RUDE FANS

I went to the DCFC concert to see the opening act - Rayland Baxter. I have to remark on the VERY RUDE DCFC fans who talked and laughed while Rayland and his band performed. Regardless, I enjoyed the energy once DCFC took the stage. It was apparent they are very loved by their fans, which is great, but give the new guy some respect in the future, okay? Unfortunately, I have to agree with other posts about the sound being off. I have seen other groups at the Murat Theatre and never noticed the sound being so awful.

TOO LOUD IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT!

Okay I've been a Death Cab fan since enjoying their debut performance on Letterman, but had never seen them live until tonight at the Wang. I'm 58 years old and realize that my ears aren't quite what they used to be, but that said they were outrageously and obnoxiously too loud!! Both my girlfriend and I were very disappointed. It got to the point where we couldn't wait for it to end, downright uncomfortable!! Won't be seeing them again.

Death Cab for Cutie, The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, March 17 2017. This show was so loud I nearly left. I wish I had listened to my gut instinct. I love the band but it was the loudest concert I've ever been to. Walking back to my hotel my ear was ringing loudly but I fully expected it to go away. That was 5 years ago and it never went away. It's often like a cicada is living in my right ear. I wish so much I could go back in time miss this concert. On my deathbed I'm pretty sure my last thought will be "at least this ringing in my ear will finally go away".
