HAPPINESS!!!

I'm so excited to see John legend for the first time! Is going to be wonderful! He is my favorite singer and I absolutely adore him! His voice, his songs...just incomparable with someone else! I HAVE MY TICKET ALREADY! Is going to be my first time experiencing an event so special like this one!

SOOOOOO GOOD !

The Murat is a wonderful place to see a concert, and John Legend did not disappoint. He sounds exactly how you hear him on the radio. What a wonderful entertainer- He engaged the audience from the get go. His band, backup singers (stellar) were great. The whole concert had a retro feel, which was fun. My only negative comment is towards the rude people that I sat next to. They talked in high volume the entire time while on their undimmed screen phones.

BEST CHRISTMAS SHOW OF THIS SEASON

A legendary Christmas!!! John Legend was mesmerizing from start to finish and the background singers and musicians are extremely talented, and brought a lot of energy. The production crew is also commended for their flawless transition from scene to scene. I recommend this show to children and adults. The best Christmas Show of the season and an amazing culinary delights at Osteria Costa closed out a night to remember.

ABSOLUTELY SUPERB!

One of the most impressive aspects of John’s show was when he performed at the piano, just voice and keys. Stripped down bare he still commanded Ravinia. The rest of the show was, musically, equally superb. The background singers and the stage set were retro, like it was 1969, contrasting with the futuristic and incredibly beautiful graphic arts on the backdrop screens. The set was like another performer, complete with multi levels and ramps used to bring John, the background singers and the horns upstage high or downstage low. Speaking of the background singers, the only thing more impressive than their gorgeous Afros and beauty were their superb voices and the class they exuded. Sound engineering was tweaked all night like a fine wine, getting better with each hour. The highlight though was John’s new destined to be a hit song, Stardust. We need the philosophical beauty of that song that we are immortal, born from stars and destined to once more, become stardust and live again.

TOP A+ PERFORMANCE

John Legend brought his A+ game to Philly. His songs sound quality was awesome! I definitely enjoyed myself on a Wednesday in Philly. So many artists modify their music during shows and forget why we go to their concerts …to hear our favorites. His band was energetic and sound great! They’re All definitely talented! And you can’t forget his backup singers! I’d definitely go see future shows by him! Thank you! Keep giving us your best John!

PERFORMER (A) V AUDIENCE (F)

John Legend’s performance was amazing & fulfilling. From start to finish, he and his talented team engaged the audience. However, as one enter’s Planet Hollywood’s Zappos theater, a sign states that the audience is encouraged to stand. That attitude encourages energy, but it ignores the needs of shorter people (me) and older ones (my husband), and the less vigorous. While most audience members respected their audience neighbors’ needs, we, unfortunately, had a couple blocking views entirely, including a couple in the row below ours, my husband’s view, and the older man’s (next to him) view. We would not have purchased tickets had we known that we needed to stand throughout the performance. We specifically purchased tickets near the very rear of the theater bc we understand that the young & healthy want to stand and dance near the pit area. So my advice to venues and performers is to save a section for the short, the older ones, and the less robust to be able to view in comfort.

HE WAS GREAT - THE BASS WAS AWFUL

John Legend put on a great show however there was an overwhelming BASS BOOM that was so loud that it shook my bones. I can't for the life of me figure out why they did this since it didn't add anything to the performance. In fact, it interfered with the music. When he sang solo at his piano, without the accompaniment of other musicians it was fabulous. If you measure excellence by BOOM BOOM BOOM then the show gets a "10." If you measure it by the overall effect it gets a "7."

ALMOST PERFECT

The staging and presentation was fantastic but the drummers bass was so loud that you could not hear the backup singers and you could only hear John Legend when he was alone at the piano, that was great but the bass was distracting for the whole performance.

GREAT SHOW - NOT SO GREAT SOUND

This was a really great show that was less than it could be due to the sound levels. I don't understand why it had to be so loud - so loud that his voice was distorted much of the time. John has a great voice and we came to hear him. That was list in the boomy, distorted levels in his mic. We enjoyed his show and setlist but left a bit disappointed.

JOHN LEGEND, LIVE

I was fortunate to get these great seated tickets to see John Legend at Planet Hollywood on August 17, 2022. Great seats. I felt very disappointed in the show as a whole. I was embarrassed by some of the background dancers in this show. To the point we’re they in the correct show? The shows subject and title being “LOVE” which John Legend attempted to give the audience. What we were give was a lot of chaos. I did not feel a lot of love. I felt unnerved and my head hurt. Where was the intimacy? Too bad

AWESOME TO JOHN LEGEND UP CLOSE

Solo piano with stories about his career and life this concert was overall a great experience. This was my 7th John Legend concert as I just saw him in Vegas in October and also skipped this one. However as I mentioned this was a different experience with storytelling being main attraction. Some parts were a bit mechincal but great to hear John cover songs like By My Side and Ribbon In The Sky along with Bridge Over Troubled Waters and Dancing In The Dark. I think there was a bit too much storytelling the first half of the show which is why I'm only giving it 4 stars. Nonetheless this was a great experience

4.0 star rating Sue from Chicago, Illinois

GOOD STORY

I guess I did not expect half of the show to be him talking about his beginnings in music which was entertaining and sharing his struggles in his life, until he put politics into it.. that was a bummer!

JOHN LEGEND NEEDS A NEW SET DESIGNER

Mr. Legend, his musical accompaniment, his lighting director, and stage crew are superb, but the backdrops were an irritating distraction. Many of the backdrops were geometric designs--huge circles moving up the screen, or lines moving diagonally up the screen. Swirls would have been welcome, or a close-up of Mr. Legend as he performed, so those of us in the back half of the venue could see him. And don't get a seat in the back half of the venue if you are subject to motion sickness--he seats are on plywood on top of scaffolding, so you feel movement in the floor and seats.

GREAT SHOW, POOR ACOUSTICS

Great, long show with wonderful visuals and fantastic musicians, singers and dancers. Unfortunately the acoustics were terrible. The bass overpowered many instruments. War times we could not hear the piano.

3.0 star rating Bobby V. from Calgary Alberta

TERRIBLE DISTORTED BASE NOT ENOUGH HITS

The first half of the show was mired in unrecognizable music and badly distorted base. The second half was much better with more hits and improved sound as John played the piano. So much potential....could have been great.

PREPARE FOR THE LONGEST WALK TO THE THEATRE !!!!!

Got there early for the Show but everyone was directed to walk for over a half hour through the entire hotel and mall mall just to get on the line! Ridiculous!!! Everyone was complaining as we all kept walking!!’ Ridiculous! Then finally got to see the show but between the band being soo loud think it was the driums you could hardly enjoy his voice it was overpowering! Dancers were great and so were singers.

EXPECTED MORE

We saw John Legend at the Hollywood Bowl. He has an amazing voice, that is for sure. He didn’t engage with the audience at all. He sang only ballads, nothing with a little upbeat tempo. In fact , he only sang a few of his songs. The rest of the concert was him talking about his claim to fame and name dropping names of celebrities he worked with. For a guy who gives singers advice on stage presence and putting together an entertaining shows, he didn’t.

ALL ABOUT THE BASS

The staging and bass player ruined the Ravinia concert. I waited all summer for Mr Legend. I walked out so disappointed that I could not even hear his supremely fabulous voice. So bad.

HE WOULDN’T STOP TALKING!

Great singer, lovely voice, excited to see him… Until he started to talk about himself endlessly. He took us from childhood all the way to the present day. He told us how great he was over and over again. His vocals are wonderful. But I don’t believe he will be a truly great talent until he gains some humility. Sing John sing. Stop talking about yourself endlessly.

TOO MUCH BASS

I was looking forward to a great evening at The Rose with John Legend but was greatly disappointed. The bass was so loud that I could not hear John and it actually “shook” my heart. I have never walked out on a concert until last night.

LOVE IN LAS VEGAS (MORE LIKE LOUSY IN LAS VEGAS)

This guy was not at all what we expected. He was full of himself, not humble, and the entire aura that his show epitomized was sleezy. We wasted our time and money, and couldn’t even sit through his arrogance for an hour. Objectively the vocals were far from legendary and this guy needs a big dose of humble pie. He should be mortified. Don’t waste your time or money going to see this clown. There are far more talented performers in Vegas. In fact, we regretted leaving a dinner show show that was more entertaining. I will say the hotel and venue where he performs fits him and his show perfectly.

DID NOT LIKE IT

Energy low, he talked a lot, we wanted to hear him singing. We paid the orchestra’s seat and we feel like we lost the money

1.0 star rating Don't come back to Chicago, John from Chicago, Illinois

HE COULDN'T COME OFF AS MORE FULL OF HIMSELF

He charges a premium, plays five of his own songs, and then talks for 90 of the 120 minutes. If he wanted to talk that much, he should have scheduled a TED talk. He is a great singer, but this was self-indulgence at its worst. He is out of touch and simply not relatable. I no longer like or respect him as a person. To say the least, he lost a lot of fans.

HE TALKED

Went to see and hear John Legend at Ravinia on Sunday. He mostly talked. Didn’t sing nearly enough. Probably talked 2/3 of the time. Very Disapointed.

1.0 star rating Lori from Boston, Massachusetts

AWFUL

Love John legend‘s voice, but he talked for probably 3/4 of the show about his self so narcissistic and sang very few his own songs we were so so disappointed

1.0 star rating Megan from Seattle, Washington

TALKED MOST OF THE SHOW

I as disappointed that he talked so much about himself, i thought it was a regular concert not a live audio book.

1.0 star rating Mitra Donde from Los Angeles, California

JOHN THE TALKER

I was so looking forward to this concert! I left after an hour. He came out late so they had to turn the lights back on, 45 minutes and he announced a 20 minute break. He talked about himself the entire time! They put up chapter titles on the screens, so he talked about his childhood and every other aspect of his life. I just wanted to hear the music.
