A Program of Bold Contemporary Dance
World renowned Vancouver-based contemporary company Ballet BC continues its groundbreaking 2018/19 season with Program 3, an expertly curated collision of two of the most important contemporary choreographers working today. Things are off to a rousing start with the BC premiere of Israeli modern dance icon Ohad Naharin's Hora, the 2009 work based on the ever popular Israeli traditional dance, set to an electronic music score by Japanese composer Isao Tomita.
This is followed by sought after Israeli choreographer Sharon Eyal's dance company signature piece Bill. Devised in collaboration with Tel Aviv-based musician Gai Behar, the mesmeric and abstract work that embodies Eyal's startingly inventive spirit which wraps around a sense of firm musicality and extreme technical precision. Large groups of dancers morph into smaller breakaway groups before giving way to breathtaking solos.
