Vancouver Opera assembles a stellar cast from around the world for this new staging of Puccini's sweeping romantic masterpiece, coming to the Queen Elizabeth Theater in April 2026! Weaving a tale of fated love in the bohemian artist community of 19th century Paris, La Boheme features some of the most sumptuous music in operatic history.

What Is The Story?

It's the 1830s, and in a small corner of Paris, a mixed community of artists and bohemians are living life in the pursuit of freedom, fulfilment and joy. Amidst this creative nirvana, idealistic young poet Rodolfo meets the seamstress Mimi - and the two develop a connection that quickly catches fire into a whirlwind love affair. But life is never as free as they hoped, and as poverty drags them down and illness rears its head, Mimi and Rodolfo's love will be tested beyond measure.
